Regardless of their disability status, everyone deserves to feel like they belong in a public library. However, due to a multitude of barriers—visible, invisible, real, perceived, institutional, and personal—people with disabilities do not always have equitable access to libraries. What can you do in your role at your library to help create more welcoming and inclusive library experiences for people of all abilities? 

PART I:  Part I of the series will introduce the concept of Universal Design and will share concrete examples and strategies that library staff can apply to all levels in their work.

About the presenter:
Renee Grassi for years has been a recognized leader in inclusive library services.  An Illinois native now residing in Minnesota working as Youth Services Manager at Dakota County Library, Renee is passionate about advocating for people of all abilities.  As a librarian in several Illinois public libraries, she has won awards for her groundbreaking work in developing more accessible libraries and disability-friendly programs.
