Program Description:

Join the SLNC Government & Heritage Library on Tuesday, October 4 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. for an in-person talk by author Jay Barnes about his recent book Fifteen Hurricanes That Changed the Carolinas: Powerful Storms, Climate Change, and What We Do Next. Barnes will share the history and lessons learned from some of the region’s most powerful storms and how climate change and rising seas will impact the future of hurricanes.

Jay Barnes in a hurricane historian and has lectured widely on U.S. hurricanes. He is a graduate of NC State University's College of Design and holds a master's degree in advertising from Syracuse University. He was Director of the North Carolina Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores for more than 20 years and now lives in Raleigh where he is President & CEO of the nonprofit North Carolina Aquarium Society.
